American Hiker Sarah Shourd Is Released from Detention in Iran

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton delivered remarks on the release of Sarah Shourd. The Secretary said, "I welcome Sarah Shourd's release from detention in Iran, and am pleased that she will soon be reunited with her family."

The Secretary continued, "I appreciate the efforts of all those who have worked for her release, in particular the Swiss Protecting Power in Tehran, the Omani Government, and the many other world leaders who have raised this case and the cases of other detained or missing American citizens. Sarah's fiance Shane Bauer, Joshua Fattal, and other U.S. citizens remain detained or missing in Iran. We urge Iranian authorities to extend the same consideration to them by resolving their cases without delay and allowing them to immediately return to their families."

It is such a wonderful day to celebrate the release of Sarah but how can we celebrate when there are other innocent prisoners still being held in Iran. We hope all the diplomats can keep the pressure on Iran to do the right thing and release them all.

I think this story sounds like it will have a Happy ending. However, these hikers should have learned a very valuable lesson. Do NOT enter another country without permission or have the proper paperwork. I have been to the Middle East, KSA, UAE, IRAQ and there are signs posted on the borders, so it's clearly marked. Hopefully, all the hostages will be released including Mr. Bob Levinson.
