View From Secretary Kerry's Plane Over the Red Sea

Today's "Photo of the Week" comes to us from Secretary Kerry's staff who are currently traveling with him to the Middle East and Africa.  This photograph was taken as the Secretary's U.S. Air Force jet was flying over the Red Sea on its way to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.   Since  taking office only a few months ago, Secretary Kerry has logged 85,540 travel miles by visiting 21 countries in 44 days.  According to our estimates, he's spent 188 hours (or 8 days) inside his plane!

As grueling as the Secretary's travel schedule can be, there are moments like the one captured in this photo in which you can appreciate the wonder of air travel and the beauty of the different hues that make the sky inspiring to stare at while passing the time in flight.

The Secretary is currently in Ethiopia celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the African Union.  To learn more of Secretary's travel, follow him at

A beautiful image Richard Buangan, thank you. May I humbly submit another image for comment coming from a (MA U.S.A. AP photo Jim Young) news article. From Ethopia with solidarity can we say? The image is not only touching but read on and the symbolism of this act will ring in your heart and mind. Boston and Ethiopia, strong.

Secretary Kerry said a one state solution re: Israel/Palestine could lead to violence. What does he think is going on there now? What are the settlements, if not violence against the Palestinians?
