Heads of State Luncheon at the 67th UN General Assembly in New York

Our "Photo of the Week" comes to us from the Secretary of State's official photographer, Michael Gross, and offers a glimpse of the Heads of State luncheon at the 67th United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 25, 2012. Comprising all 193 members of the United Nations, the General Assembly meets in regular session from September to December each year, and thereafter as required. This year's General Debate is scheduled from September 25 through October 1.

During the Heads of State luncheon, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton expressed appreciation to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for his leadership. In her remarks, the Secretary also acknowledged the diplomats and development experts from every nation serving and sacrificing far from home. The Secretary said, "They represent the best traditions of our international community. They are committed to the peace and progress that brought about the establishment of this extraordinarily important institution, and we owe them our full support and gratitude."

The Heads of State luncheon is one of a number of events in which Secretary Clinton attended during the United Nations General Assembly this week. The Secretary conducted numerous bilateral and multilateral meetings with her counterparts, as well as participated in several high-level events on the margins of the gathering. The General Assembly continues next week, and you can follow the latest developments via www.state.gov and @StateDept on Twitter. Stay tuned to DipNote and the State Department on Storify and Tumblr for highlights from the week's activities.

W.W. writes:

UN an institution with no legitimacy a victim of its founders and their tyranny on global population

Democracy today is an illusion as freedom brotherhood and equality - What UN is proposing to global population it is just profit for the few and slavery for the many -

UN and its nepotistic leadership is working and profiting in creating conflict generate debts for a crazy one eyed vision of control -

UN cos its founder it is an anti democratic organization not working for equal opportunities and a common wealth

The day that the world will decide leading families now controlling and leading the world will change-

The globe must now work for global election for 1 global leader
