On Tuesday, October 4, 2011, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson held a conversation with Sam Worthington, President and CEO of InterAction, on the crisis in the Horn of Africa. The discussion was moderated by Cheryl Benton, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, and streamed live on www.state.gov and DipNote. I am proud of the US demonstrating concern and aid to this area. Perhaps if we worked toward reducing our war costs in multiple cuntries and brought our troops home, we could engage in more of these compassionate acts throughout the world as well as in the US.

Conversations with America/Horn of Africa:

We sense the obvious dedication in the voices of the three participants during this conversation. Some of the discussion centered on piracy and kidnappings which reiterates the idea that famine- is yet another tool of terrorism...It would be interesting to speak to that subject in another conversation.

The delegation sent to Ethopia and kenya will hopefully reiterate the necessity of Feed The Future programs as long term solutions in famine prone areas.
