Today, the United States Mission to the United Nations in Geneva launched a new website to serve as a comprehensive portal about the environmental efforts underway at Mission Geneva, which was named the State Department's "Flagship Post for Energy and Sustainability" in 2005. The site, green-mission.info, contains photos, videos and information about one of the greenest U.S. diplomatic facilities in the world.

The mission boasts solar arrays, a state-of-the-art cooling system, and high efficiency, low emission lighting and heating systems. The mission is currently conducting a project to further improve the sustainability of the building and grounds by working with the American Society of Landscape Architects to recruit students to develop a sustainable landscape design.

The U.S. Mission to the United Nations in Geneva is a proud member of the League of Green Embassies, a group of 28 U.S. diplomatic posts around the world committed to reducing their carbon footprint.

What's missing from this picture is the rooftop hydrophonic garden...a little color on top would show folks you're really going green.

@Eric,
It's hydroponic not hydrophonic. It's how all of the marijuana terrorist growers grow their pot, hydroponically. Did you know that long term pot smoking can lead to schizophrenia? Why would the American government allow people to grow something that makes them shizophrenic? It's disturbing.

@Eric from New Mexico,
Nevertheless, I like your idea about growing things on the roof. What about the three hour lunch breaks U.N. employees take. Seems a bit excessi
