Sixteen years ago, on July 18, 1994, a car bomb destroyed the AMIA Jewish Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The terrorist attack killed 85 people and injured more than 300 Argentine citizens. It was a tragic and deplorable act.
On this sad occasion, the American people offer our deepest condolences to the victims and their families. We also commend the Government of Argentina for its resolute pursuit of justice, as well as for its role as a regional leader in advancing human rights and in combating terrorism.
