About the Author: Andrea Arcila serves as Public Diplomacy Assistant in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs.

The great collaboration between Argentines and Americans was once again evident in the Fourth of July celebration at the U.S. Embassy Buenos Aires in Argentina. U.S. Ambassador to Argentina Vilma Martinez's speech captured a relationship of cooperation and mutual respect that bond our two nations. The American and Argentinean anthems were interpreted by Sebastian Sorarraini, member of the Opera de Camara Del Teatro Colon. Maria Jose Garrido had the honor of carrying the Argentine flag, after being distinguished as U.S. Embassy employee of the year. Several U.S. companies located in Argentina provided critical support for the extravaganza.

Two individuals from our extended community were honored for their relentless efforts to build and promote a cooperative relationship between Argentina and the United States. Both men embody and promote the strong bilateral relationship between Argentina and the United States.
