I recently visited Cairo, Egypt, and was thrilled to see the momentum building around our Global Entrepreneurship Program there. The entrepreneurship initiative, started by President Obama's historic June 2009 Cairo speech, has materialized into a rapidly growing program with huge support from partners in the business community, non-governmental organizations, and universities. U.S. Embassy Cairo launched the Global Entrepreneurship Partners' first meeting on June 21 in a session hosted by U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Margaret Scobey. More than a dozen partners in Cairo and via video link from the State Department in Washington, DC, participated, and an amazing level of entrepreneurial energy filled the room with lots of initial commitments including partners agreeing to work together on training, mentoring, and funding entrepreneurs. The next big event will be the arrival of an "Entrepreneur in Residence" later this summer. An entrepreneurship mission including U.S. venture capitalists and entrepreneurs is headed to Egypt in October. The entrepreneurial spirit is catching on around the world, but particularly in Egypt.

It is inspiring to hear about joint programs with a middle eastern country. Egypt is a great example of a country who embraces all the citizens of world.
