Secretary Clinton recently began a week-long trip to Asia, which includes visits to Japan, China, and South Korea. The Secretary will meet with senior government officials in all three countries, visit the USA Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo and participate in the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue in Beijing.

Along the way, the Secretary's travel team and U.S. Embassy and Consulate colleagues will offer updates on the trip. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell already provided us a preview of the trip and a video from Andrews Air Force Base, and U.S. Embassy Beijing's Robert Raines explains how U.S. diplomats are connecting with 400 million “netizens” in China.

The U.S. Embassy's efforts in Beijing are just one example of the commitment President Obama and Secretary Clinton made to reach out beyond ministerial buildings and official meeting halls -- as important as those places are -- and engage with civil society. Secretary Clinton said, "[W]e are ready to listen. Actively listening to our partners isn't just our way of demonstrating respect. It can also be a source of ideas to fuel our common efforts."

We are looking for your ideas and questions. We're trying something new this trip via @StateDept on Twitter, collecting questions and sharing answers between you and Assistant Secretary Campbell, U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Philippe Reines, as well as other officials -- so start tweeting us your questions now!

You can also expect more behind the scenes coverage with senior members of the delegation and our advance team on the ground. You can follow everything on DipNote's Travel Diary as well as the Secretary's Interactive Travel Map, re-launched for this trip with new engaging features. You can view the map in 3-D, comment on trip stops, add your own photos, and more! If you haven't already done so, I encourage you to take a look at the map and participate in the Secretary's trip to Asia. We look forward to hearing from you.

Love the new map and the posting about China's 400 million Internet users. Very interesting. Again, I applaud Google for the stand they made over censorship in China. I hope our government takes a similar stand on human rights.
