Travel Expo Plane Taking Off

About the Author: Paula Backus-Williams serves at the Washington Passport Agency in the Bureau of Consular Affairs.

Do you or your friends enjoy traveling? If so, you should visit us at the 6th annual Adventures in Travel Expo this weekend, March 6-7, at the Washington Convention Center located at 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW in Washington, D.C.

As one of the exhibitors at the travel expo, the Bureau of Consular Affairs' Washington Passport Agency will be handing out passport and travel information at Booth 618. Stop by and ask us any questions you may have about how to apply for a passport and the services the Bureau of Consular Affairs provides to citizens who need assistance abroad.

For example, consular officers help citizens who lose their passport or have it stolen while traveling overseas. We also assist in other emergencies like natural disasters. The Bureau of Consular Affairs helped evacuate over 16,700 U.S. citizens during the recent earthquake in Haiti!

At our booth, you can also learn about our next big event, Passport Day in the USA!

Passport Day in the USA is a special day when passport agencies and acceptance facilities across the country will be open and accepting passport card and passport book applications, no need to make an appointment. This year, Passport Day in USA will be on Saturday, March 27th.

We look forward to seeing you this weekend at the Adventures in Travel Expo, where there will be a variety of exhibits, cultural performances, and hands-on events. If you don't have the chance to speak with us at Booth 618 this weekend, you can always visit us at www.travel.state.gov to learn more about the passport application process and for other travel information.

My friend used to travel to many countries for business purpose, but never been to US so far. Yesterday he asked me about passport formalities. I think I should share this news to my friend.

DipNote Bloggers reply: You can find a broad range of visa information at http://travel.state.gov.
