Embassy Manila is all abuzz with the announcement that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will visit Manila November 12-13. As Secretary Clinton said in Washington last week, she is coming to show her solidarity with the Philippines in the wake of the devastating storms and typhoons that have affected so many Filipinos in recent weeks.

At the embassy, we sat down as a team to plan a schedule for her visit, and the ideas flowed. Of course there are only 24 hours in a day, and she will need to sleep and to eat. And she will need to meet with Philippine Government officials. But our team knew she would also want to see Filipinos from all walks of life.

So we came up with some great opportunities for her to talk with community leaders about how the United States is working with Filipinos to recover from the floods and, hopefully, meet Filipino students to hear what the next generation of leaders is thinking.

I’ll keep readers posted on her visit and will try to update you while she’s in Manila.

I am thrilled of Secretary Clinton's visit to the Philippines. Her visit will certainly awaken the Filipino the memories of the long friendship between the two countries. May your dialogue be fruitful and meaningful toward a bright future.

Salamat po at Mabuhay!

A soul needs these things. Food, shelter, tools and information on how to get and keep these items. Ignoring the climate flucuations will cost us dearly. Offer the ways and means of keeping populations housed and fed and u win an ally. Keep feeding the already top heavy bureaucrates and u only crush those that make his position possible.
