Priscilla Linn, Curator at the U.S. Diplomacy Center, provides information about the exhibit: "An Artist at Large in the Diplomatic World". The U.S. Embassy in Estonia also features Irena Baruch Wiley.
We’re going to have the exhibit up until the end of December of 2008. And just hope that people will come through and enjoy the beauty of the work and also the story of both of their lives because they were both entrenched in a very good way in the Foreign Service, in making connections, in telling the story of America abroad. That’s the purpose of the Diplomacy Center is to tell the story of American diplomacy. And these two people, she and her husband, represent one of the most exemplary ways to tell the story of American diplomacy.
One of the most important aspects of this exhibit to me, in some ways the most important message of this exhibit, is that everybody brings gifts to diplomacy, everybody has something to share. Maybe your gift is listening. Maybe your gift is communicating, talking. Maybe your gift is music, maybe it’s dancing. Whatever your gift is, you can bring it to diplomacy and enrich the world that way.
