What happened to all of Saddam Hussains money? I believe Saddam Hussain was worth in the billions. According to the news years back they found him with just under a million dollars. I think President George W. Bush should clerify as to what happened to all the billions of dollars that Saddam had in his bank accounts? What efforts were made in collecting those moneies and who was in charge of these efforts? If I also recall Saddam was worth roughly around 20 billion dollars so finding under a million dollars something doesn't quite add up! Who was in charge of the investigation to enure those monies were not used in terrorist activities? I think before he departs he should mention the disposition of what happened to the money that belong to Saddam Hussain?

@ Sean -- I'd like to pose this as a "write in" question if you'd take it for a "spin"....no...wrong...my bad..(chuckle)...bein' in the "no-spin zone" and all...will you take it for a cruise then? An in depth analysis would be nice.

I'd like to know if given the international response (noting the lack of timely results) in Darfur, the Burma typhoon crisis, and what's going on in the DR Congo presently...

Is the notion of "responsibility to protect" as outlined in the 2005 UNGA a dead concept or simply dead on arrival of implementation?

And what will it take to turn the concept into a working solution to these kinds of crisis?

Thanks.

My question is about immigration history: why does the US not permit aunts/uncles to sponsor their nieces/nephews? Do other country's allow sponsorship (i.e., a slightly wider "family" circle) by aunts/uncles/cousins?

Is the origin one of "family uniting" and scarcity? It seems to be the trend that family size is getting smaller amongst the native born U.S. population, so maybe it's time to update this logic?

(One could imagine Barack Obama's "aunt" from Kenya needs a more "direct" relation to sponsor her, under current law, but one wonders how it came to be this way.) Thanks!

On Oct the 15th, DipNote underlined that "Piracy Threatens Horn of Africa". Unfortunately, the "Somalia mafia" keeps on threatening all of us and hit again.

We all know that at the State Department, you are working very hard to encourage international efforts among governments, to fight piracy and support peace and stability in Somalia and the whole continent. NATO's efforts are obvious too.

Are there any countries that do not support this Global voice shouting: "STOP PIRACY"?

Thank you very much Sir!

@ John in Greece -- I totally agree with your statement regarding piracy on the open seas...

If you also recall, I mentioned the US Navy should be preventing this piracy from happening. Obviously, somewhere the ball is dropping.

MISSION OF THE US NAVY "Keeping the sea lanes open allowing merchant ships to move cargo" Otherwise they might have to do like the 80s start moving cargo ships in convoys with our Destroyers out front and one in the rear. Protecting the cargo.

I thought how our DEA and Coast Guard units could help.

However, if this doesn't improve, they will only continue stealing valuable cargo and causing our economy to scramble.

I hope our State Department and Department of Defense has a plan to sort out all this piracy mess.

ARG ARG ARG! Make em walk the plank! Just Kidding!!!

@ Donald in Virginia -- Your posts are always on my mind Sir, and I love your writing! I recall...

However, the problem is how can you do it, without "victims", when a ship is "captured"?

You know better than me, that these guys (Somalia mafia) made money "out of nowhere" and they "invested" this black money in "further" drug "deals". They have "power", money, new tech guns (where from, I wonder?) etc.

So, the black money became even "bigger" for the Somalia mafia. This "guy" of the village has the "best girl", lives in the best house and it "goes".

They are attempting to create a new millennium "piracy era". They have somehow done it! Now? We must stop them!

Only SEALs can solve this without us having innocent victims (I wouldn't care about the pirates!)

Dear State Dept office -- Why does the State Dept. continue to allow the media to lie and say Saddam Hussein wasn't supporting anti American terrorists when sites like www.regimeofterror.com have documented the admissions of terrorists? Aren't you damaging American interests and America's image to just sit back and allow this country to be lied about?

I'd really appreciate a reply.

@ John in Greece -- THANK-YOU!

I sailed on two warships in the US Navy. I just think something sounds kinda fishy about this piracy issue.

1. How did these rebels get the weapons to start with? Who has been involved shipping the country of Somalia the artillery (small arms) to start this business of piracy? Why do I have visions of "Blackhawk down" written all over again!

2. I can almost understand why the US Navy isn't taking more responsbility about this situation. However, if they don't start taking some action, how long before the pirates begin taking much needed supplies that the United States orders or what we send over to Africa. This piracy issue will not go away. Saudi Arabia I think learned the hard way that they need to start putting a security force on their tankers. They should also consider having a helicopter pad on the ship and deploy with an attack helicopter for security reasons. This might prevent the pirates from taking the crude oil, or ship crew hostage in future.

3. The point is with two wars going on, the United States cannot do this alone. We need more help in the region.

4. The Indian Navy stood up to the Pirates!!! Apparently, they made the news on sinking one of the pirate ships.

5. I believe the Indian Navy made our Navy look very sad. We have some of the best Destroyers in the world and it's the Indian Navy that sinks the first pirate ship!

Warm Regards,

Donald

TOP TERRORISTS

I keep hearing on the news that the top terrorist are in the country of Pakistan. Repeating what the news said, the CIA believes these top terrorists are there.

If the CIA knows for a fact they are there? What in the world are we waiting for? The United States continues getting threats against our country.

I know for a fact that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia always sends money to Pakistan and Egypt. Usama Bin Laden was from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and his right hand man was from Egypt. This is not rocket science. Didn't the KSA have a telethon years back to help raise money for the families of the suicide attackers.

I just like to see these terrorist caught and brought to Justice!

In reference to IRAN and Robert Levinson. I would tell the Leader of Iran to turn him over to the nearest United States Embassy ASAP! Then I would say to the Iran Leader, Thank-You! If IRAN doesn't comply, then the United States should look at a rescue plan for BOB! If they need some help, I would be glad to be apart of getting Bob back to the United States! I have years working at a prison. What they did to BOB was wrong!

Best Regards,

Donald

NATIONWIDE LOTTERY PROMOTED BY THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE IDEA

My suggestion is why doesn't the FEDERAL IRS Host a Nation Wide Lottery? Instead of raising taxes on people. Create a Lottery system that would allow people to purchase tickets and help pay off the National Deficit. Offer like 1 million dollars and up prizes on the lottery. Scratch off tickets and eventually move on to the automated pick 6 and power ball games.

BEST REGARDS,

DONALD
