The mission of the U.S. Department of State is to create a more secure, democratic, and prosperous world for the benefit of the American people and the international community.
Through its websites and other online resources, the Department offers broad public access to a wide range of information. Blogs.state.gov offers the public an alternative source to mainstream media for U.S. foreign policy information. This blog offers the opportunity for participants to discuss important foreign policy issues with senior Department officials.

Tara Foley
Tara Foley is a Foreign Affairs Officer with the Office of Weapons of Mass Destruction Terrorism. Tara hails from the Boston area and graduated summa cum laude from Boston College (Go Eagles!) with a BA in Political Science and a minor in Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. She earned her Masters degree in International Relations from the University of Chicago. Tara has also studied Arabic at Al-Akhawayn University in Morocco and Politics at Oxford University. She is now a Presidential Management Fellow with the Department of State. Since joining the Department, she has worked on WMD terrorism issues for the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation and as an Economic Officer at US Embassy Riyadh.
Masharika Prejean
Masharika Prejean is the Special Assistant to Department Spokesman Sean McCormack. She attended the undergraduate institution of Duke University and graduated from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Economy/Pre-Medicine. Her graduate degree is from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas-Austin. While in Texas, she served as the Communications Director of a statewide nonprofit focused on the needs of children in the state. She was selected as a Presidential Management Fellow in 2006 and moved to Washington, DC to begin her position with the State Department. Mixing two parts “go get ‘em” attitude with one part southern charm, the Louisiana native now travels with the Spokesman and Secretary Rice.
