Yes, one should challenge all nations, including the U.S., to protect women (and men) from sexual violence. However, I urge Secretary Clinton (and other world leaders) to be cautious when making broad accusations when no evidence is available (as in the case of Sri Lanka) - doing so hurts those of us who have worked hard to change the status quo around the world.

Please lets get our facts right before we speak!

Honorable Hillary Clinton
Secretary of State

Dear Madam Secretary:

Rape as weapon of war

We are deeply aggrieved by your statement in the Security Council meeting of 30 September 2009 presenting Resolution 1888/2009 on Women & Peace & Security that rape was used as an instrument of war in Sri Lanka. It is incomprehensible how you could make such a damning statement without a shred of evidence. Not one single case of rape was reported throughout the last Eelam War of two and a half years, either by government forces or by the LTTE terrorists. We cannot but conclude that you were unfortunately influenced to make such a statement by the powerful LTTE propaganda machine that is spending enormous sums of money in U.S. political circles using the resources that they extort from the Sri Lankan Tamil community in North America.

We have over 200,000 Sri Lankan-American voters in the USA and they overwhelmingly voted for you and the Democratic Party at the last election. Most of us voted for you in the Democratic Presidential primaries as we felt that you had the maturity and courage to lead our nation in a time of crisis. Many of us sent individual contributions to your campaign. We are now shocked and disappointed by your unwarranted criticism of a democratic nation trying to come to its feet after 30 years of terrorist violence. You have only to check the CIA website to see that the LTTE was the worst terrorist organization in the world.

It is hoped that you will correct this injustice by making a public correction of your wrong statement made as a result of a lack of proper information.

Sincerely,
Kenneth A.
Hi,

I see "President Hillary" is speaking to the United Nations council . :) It's great that the United Nations peacekeeping force is becoming more gender friendly. I hope that more women will be joining the UN's peacekeeping forces in the future ,because of this new direction their taking.

Sir,

1. Happy 2 see Mrs. Rodham Clinton is still wearing Blue as suggested by her "colorist" during the last Presidential Campaign, via her Staff HQ.

2. In video, here, her eyes appear as tho she is fighting some virus or allergy in her eyes. Long hours I know, but; she needs to keep up her strength & health.

3. Recently located her book of 2000. Am now reading. As an Ordained Minister I don't read many secular books just 4 the sake of reading. But! It's turning into a good read.

4. Our best wishes and prayers are with her.

Peace,
Great job and awesome speech Honorable Hillary Clinton, I agree 120 percent that women and kids need to have security and they also should have defense tactics to prevent attacks. Well done!
