@Erin,

I just ran across this film and thought it might be of interest to everyone @ OES & ECA as well as the readership of Dipnote.

Leon Cooper, goes back to the hallowed battleground of Tarawa, site of the bloodiest three days in 20th Century American war history, only to find the beaches full of trash and garbage, and works with Dept of State officials and locals to create a program to clean up the environment, create jobs, and respect the fallen in combat.

Kind of a unique documentary, and I was impressed that the State Dept took such a supportive role in this one man's efforts.

Gives a rare look at diplomacy in action.
