It's great to see the "interagency" at work -- and this type effort is good for both humanitarian AND strategic reasons. Also, an interesting observation in Eric's entry about the Peace Corps and Afghanistan. I would agree with the fellow that said U.S. aid during the Tsunami relief did more to help win the war on terror than any other single act.

Friend of mine from Afghanistan once remarked that the Afghan people remembered the aid given by the U.S. via the Peace Corps before the Soviet invasion and was a key reason trust could be built.

The bottom line is saving lives.
