I like the idea of this competition, and I'm happy to see a real diversity of views among the finalists. <br />

However, it seems to me that if the sponsors are so interested in promoting democracy, they might have put a little more effort into upholding standard democratic conventions like a one-person/one vote system. And they could have raised the bar by using a ranked choice ballot. <br />
<br />
For that matter, are they going to publish the results when the voting period is over? Also, if the winners are going to be selected from six regional categories, why haven't the sponsors separated out the candidates by category?<br />
<br />
Online votes these days tend to be pretty vague... more about advertising that decision-making. This site hasn't broken any molds. Just sayin'.]]></description>
